もちろん、スピードアップのために繰り返し読むつもりです。

物語のはじめに、著者のマーク・トウェインの言葉があります。

Most of the stories in this book really happened.
One or two stories are my own and others happened to boys in my school.
Huck Finn was a real boy and Tom Sawyer is made from three real boys.
My book is for boys and girls, but Ihope that men and wemen also will read it.
I hope that help them to remember when they were boys and girls, and how they felt and thought and talked, what they believed, and the strange things they sometimes did.
この本に書かれた出来事は、そのほとんどが実際におこった出来事です。
ひとつかふたつは私自身に、それ以外は私の通った学校の子供たちに。
ハックルベリーフィンは実在の少年ですし、トムソーヤーは３人の実在の少年から創作したキャラクターです。
私の本は子供たちに向けたものです。
しかし大人にも読んで欲しいと思っています。
この本が、大人たちが少年時代を思い出す助けになればと思います。
彼らがどのように感じ、どのように考え、どのように話をしたか。
何を信じたか。
そして時々大人には想像できないようなおかしな行動をおこしたことを思い出す助けになれば良いと思います。

男の子の父親になった僕が、たまたま英語の勉強を始め、そして出会ったのがこの本。
なんか運命的なものを勝手に感じてますｗ
そしてこの本を読んで、男の子の父親になれたことをますます幸せに感じました。
